What's in a Name Research Unit

My students just finished their first big research project!  They were SO excited to learn all about their first name.  We learned to use the iPads that were donated to us from my Donors Choose project & they had a blast!  These are my 2nd graders researching... :)

Genius Hour

Whew!!!  What a GREAT but TIRING few weeks back to school!  Is anyone else feeling that?!

I am loving my new position as a Gifted & Talented teacher!  It's super different from being in gen ed, but the change is just what I needed.  I'm able to focus more time on the things that I really wanted <3

Ok... here's what I want to share with you tonight!  I am starting a project with my gifted students called Genius Hour.  This could really be done with ANY kiddos though!  Here's a link for you to watch & learn more about it... Genius Hour
I will definitely be keeping you posted with how things go!

Genius Hour could change the way a child views school... it could go from a place where they are forced to learn certain concepts to a place where they get to choose what they learn in a very positive way!  I can't wait to get started!

Classroom Decor

Wow... this has been quite an adventure!  I recently switched schools and teaching positions.  I was a 4th grade Language Arts teacher for three years, and this summer I accepted a position teaching Gifted & Talented for a new district.  I was very sad to leave my school family, but I am super excited for the new opportunity!  Have you ever switched schools or teaching positions?  If so, tell me about it in the comments below :)
